This would be a fun day for kids. The money raised from the event would go to CHAZ (Children's Hospice Association Scotland) It would be held in March 2014 in a kids primary school (still to be decided) We would choose 1 class, for example, primary 2 or 3 and each child would pay £3 to attend.
The event itself... Someone will be dressed as the white rabbit and go to the kids class telling them they're going to be late, he will then lead the kids to the event in their school hall.
Layout... We would have one long table in the middle of the hall that can hold around 30 children. There would all different kinds of chairs at the table, with different coloured table cloths. On the table there will be a tea set at each place, each child will have a tea cup, a saucer and a side plate and in the middle of the table there will be a big tea pot (filled with diluting juice) a jug of water saying drink me and a cake stand with different cakes on it saying eat me.
Around the hall there will be different features related to Alice in Wonderland for example signs saying this way and that way, off with your head, pictures of the caterpillar and tweedle dum/tweedle dee.
Games... Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum Race This will be dependant on how big the hall is, however, if big enough we could have a a 2 legged race, all kids will pair up and race down the hall. The winners will win a prize.
Pin the grin on the Cheshire Cat, Have maybe 3 Cheshire cats, split the kids into 3 groups and have them, one by one, pin the grin in the cat. It will be a race and the winning team gets extra cakes.
Make your own mad hat, Provide the kids with a hat and some decorations and let them make their own hat.
Higher or lower Using large playing cards have the kids play higher or lower.
Kaitlin I love this idea I think it will be great fun for all the kids. I especially like how you are going to surprise them in their class. The games all sound good and a lot of fun. I can see you have put a lot of thought into this event, I am interested to what kind of cakes etc will be at the event and how you will accommodate to dietary requirements. Overall it is a brilliant idea!
i think the location is good as it saves the trouble of transportation for all the children, so keeping it in the school is probably best. I also think a good target audience would be primary 2 or 3 as it is more likely for them to believe it and it is easier for their age group to understand.
I would like to organise a music show for a local care home (exact home still to be decided) in March 2014.
I would contact around 10-15 local schools (primary and secondary) and ask if they have a music department that would be willing to work with us.
They would each provide us with one group of students who could participate in the show, they will either play instruments, be a choir or be dancers. Preferably each school will provide us with something different, whether it be different styles of music, different styles of dances or different kind of songs. I would like to get the local papers involved so that the schools would get some publicity from this also.
Before the event, ideally, we would meet with all of the organisers from each school and plan a programme for the event and come up with a date a week before the event in which we can do a rehearsal to see how it all comes together.
We would have to look at hiring buses to get the schools to and from the care home. We need to consider how we will get the equipment to the care home, we may need to hire a van for any bigger instruments. We also need to see the care home before hand to see how much space we have for all of the instruments that may be needed and also space for any dancers that the school might have.
This is my second idea, let me know what you think!
Idea 1 My idea for an event is holding an art day for kids in March. This event will last around 3 hours and involve children from primary schools around Glasgow. There will be two long tables in the venue, one for doing art and another for snacks and juice.
Book Day is in March therefore I would like this event to have a book theme with the children drawing pictures of scenes or characters from their favourite book. The best ones will win a prize. The tables will be decorated with characters from famous books such as the Hungry Caterpillar, Alice in Wonderland and Harry Potter.
Music from children’s movies will be played throughout the day. There will also be activities and games for the children.
Possible venues include a particular school or the Kelvingrove Art Gallery. I would hope to raise the money for this event by fundraising rather than charging a price for tickets.
Idea 2 My idea for another event is holding a 'Discover the stars over Glasgow' event. This would offer the people of Glasgow to come and stargaze and learn about astronomy. This event will be held in March/April and will obviously need to be in the evening. An expert on astronomy will also be required.
The event will be targeted at families as there would be an opportunity for the children to create their own model solar system and visitors would be able to take part in a variety of activities aimed at families and those with a keen interest in astronomy. Drinks and light snacks will be available to purchase.
This event could be held in the Botanical Gardens or Glasgow Science Centre's planetarium.
There may be a charge of around £2-3 for this event and fundraising be carried out prior to the event. Money will go to the chosen charity.
This is a really good idea! Its a different event to what children at school would normally be invited or interested to got to so they would enjoy this very much! Of course the only thing to worry about would be the weather but then again you have chosen a good venue as the Science Centre which is a great indoor venue and you can use their facilities. If you were to hold it in summer then you could potentially use the Botanic Gardens. The target audience is spot on and would definitely appeal to families with kids. The idea for the model solar system is really good because they can take it home with them after the event! Really good!
My idea for my first event is to organise a safari party for children in a primary three class at a school which is to be decided. The event will take place in the school hall and will be a fun filled day full of activities and games for the children plus party food and drink to keep them fed and watered.
The school in which this will take place is still to be decided.
The room will have one long table down the middle with enough room for one class of children this is where their party food and drink will be served.
Upon arrival to the school hall the children will be met by Dora the Explorer and she will take them on an adventure through the safari which is just giant card board cut outs of animals which I'm hoping to find.
At the end of the educational safari journey with Dora the children will be able to see some real live animals from the animal man - the guy who brings animals to parties.
After this the children will stop for something to eat and drink. Then after that they will round off the day with a few more fun and games such as pin the tail on the money.
At the end of the afternoon the children will receive a little goodie bag with lots of treats in them.
As this is for school children the money will be fun raised and will be a free event.
I know it's a risky one, but every year my school hold a fashion show, and I could see if my old year head who organises it would let us take the reigns.
We would use the same companies for the outfits that have been used for all the past fashion shows, to help us out.
We would also liaise with my old year head to find enough models for the night .... Believe me it can be done! I even made an appearance one year.
We would use the school hall as the venue.
We would organise the entertainment wether it be a live band or a singer or a piece of drama or all of the above.
We would have to organise the food and beverage for the intermission -this would be things like crisps juice cakes and sweets.
We would organise the hair and make up people - we could use people from the college who do hair and beauty.
The event is charged at £7 a ticket
Although it is a ticketed event all money raised will go towards the local elderly community centre for their Christmas gifts in 2014.

I think this is a really good idea, it is unique and you have thought it through well. I think it is good as it would be fun for the children and it also teaches them about astronomy. I think the venues you have chosen are both good but I think the Glasgow science centre would be better as it is more appropriate and it has a good view to look at the stars. My only con about this event is that it would have to be held on a clear night which is not always certain in Glasgow. The target audience is good as it is children with their families.
I think this is a good idea, the kids will love the chance to paint and draw and make a mess! Theming the event on World Book Day is brilliant as it also promotes reading for the kids and lets them explore their favourite books and characters. You could perhaps get the kids to dress up as their favourite book character as well and have a competition for most original costume, or maybe just have a fancy dress parade (so no-one gets upset that they didnt win) You need to think of a target age group for the event, it may have to be quite young as older children may get bored throughout the event. Perhaps aged 5-10...
Reply to Joannes idea: I really like the 'Discover the stars over Glasgow' idea, its unique and the venue choices are spot on, i think it should be targeted at primary schools, perhaps primary 1-3, other than that its a good idea
The price would be £60 each which includes all the wine and a 3 course meal and that also goes towards the venue. It would be held in the Hilton Hotel as it is a very classy and sophisticated venue in April as it is the Easter holidays and more people will be available then.
The target audience would be 18+ mainly 30-50 year olds as they would be the most interested I think.
The guests would firstly learn the basics of wine tasting such as how to swirl and taste it properly. They would then learn about all the white wines from the different counties And get to try them. After this they would have their 3 course meal, obviously served with wine. Finally they would learn about all the red wines from the different countries. At the end they would get the chance to buy a bottle of their choice. It was be in late afternoon- evening, lasting 3-4 hours
It would be held in a venue somewhere in the city centre so that it's easy for everyone to get to. I was thinking it could be at the end of March.
The tickets would be £2 per person and there would be things like a raffle, tuck shop and bake sale at the event. The tickets would look like invitations.
Everyone would be required to wear a mask or buy one on the night for £1. They also should try to wear something formal such as a dress/suit.
The room would be decorated in colours like gold, black and red. A professional DJ would need to be hired to play all sorts of tunes, from traditional to chart. A buffet style dinner would be provided for the guests to help themselves at any point. There also could be some sort of game for everyone to participate in, resulting in someone winning a prize.
It would be in the evening from 7.30-12. All ages would be welcome.
Venues- Kelvingrove Art Gallery is a great idea for a venue as it is related to the event, there is also a possibility of being able to hold it in a library, some libraries have large rooms that can be used for events and it would relate well with the World Book Day theme...
Target Audience- The target audience would have to be young as kids from around 10 up may find the event slightly too young for them. Perhaps ages 5-10 (Primary 1-6/7) would suit.
